Borderless Hockey News July 2015

Hello fellow HIPA members,
HIPA’s borderless hockey concept continues to grow, reaching new hockey players, tournament organizers and hockey fans the world over.
As the hockey season quickly approaches we have some tour/tournament details that we are very excited to share with you.  If you’ve been on a HIPA tour, you know what it’s all about.  If you haven’t yet joined us but are eager to do so, take a peak below and let us know which ones are of interest to you.
It’s always great to hear from club members, please don’t hesitate to let me know how HIPA can help make your hockey life even better!
Yours in hockey,
Paul de Verteuil
HIPA President

From our friends at Fours Hockey:

With the NHL’s recent decision to use a 3 on 3 format for overtime, everyone will get a glimpse of what Fours Hockey has to offer.  You will see the speed, the scoring opportunities, the goaltending … all the skills, open ice and tactics that Fours Hockey has embraced, but it won’t give anyone the full Fours Hockey experience.
The difference being, that once a goal is scored in NHL’s 3 on 3 overtime, the game will be over.  This is where the Fours brand of hockey explodes into extraordinary exciting action!

Fours Hockey Tournament – Lafayette Louisiana U.S.A (October 9-11, 2015)

According to the Wall Street Journal and the Travel Channel, Lafayette LA is THE place to visit! They talk about the great food, the culture, welcoming people, and with all of those great things blended into a hockey tournament, you just can’t lose!
October 9-11 we will be hosting the annual Slap Shot Your Mama Tournament here in Lafayette LA benefiting Mission Vets. Hockey for a Cause… We all love the game, the beer, and when you put it all together to help Veterans, nothing is better than that.
Friday night you will meet your team, receive your custom jersey, and create your game plan… or just figure out what everyone drinks.
Saturday and Sunday will be filled with Fours Hockey! Ever played this format?
Each team, will be created by draft according to submitted skill levels and position preference, and is limited to 1 goalie + up to 8 skaters. The tournament runs on a tight schedule so be on your toes.

There will be an elimination series to determine the top 2 teams, who will play for the "Slap Shot Ya Mama” Cup, in an exciting championship game!  Eliminated teams will play for their own respective prizes (hint...may include personal pride)!
The cost is $125 per player and you can register online through Eventbrite:http://slapshot4missionvets.eventbrite.com

Fours Hockey Tournament – Collingwood Ontario Canada
(Jan 22/23, 2015)

Collingwood Ontario Canada first hosted our annual Fours Hockey tournament in April 2015 in support of the Rotary Club of Collingwood South Georgian Bay charitable efforts.  The tournament hosted five teams and marked the first time Fours Hockey was played in the Greater Toronto Area.  HIPA emerged victorious claiming their championship trophy in the 4th overtime period.
From humble beginnings, great things come!  We are hoping to grow to twelve teams in 2016.  The tournament dates are confirmed (January 22 and 23), and teams will be able to register shortly.  We will continue to keep HIPA informed so that all HIPA members will know when registration opens and early bird rates are announced.
<N.B. from the HIPA editor: Those who wish to enter their own team are encouraged to do so.  Another way to participate is to join the HIPA team via our Collingwood 2016 Tour http://www.hockey-ipa.com/tours/view_event/58>

Stanley Cup championships are celebrated forever, just ask Habs fans (Ouch! That wasn’t very nice).  Chicago earned their right to celebrate.  Check out the corn maze designed by Richardson Adventure Farm (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Richardson-Adventure-Farm/104037919663437) in Spring Grove Illinois to honour their Champions.
But don’t stop there, let us know #whatdoyoudoforhockey
